Healthy Smoothies For Kids! Smoothies are a great way to get extra nutrition into your family. It is no secret that some children are quite the fussy eaters and getting them to eat can be very difficult. Smoothies are a healthy alternative to meals and offer the opportunity to mix many ingredients that kids usually avoid.

Smoothie is a finely blended juice made of raw vegetables, fruits, and dairy products like milk or yogurt. Smoothies can be made only with fruit (fresh or frozen), and free of dairy products. What makes a smoothie appealing to children is the creamy texture and their natural sweet flavors.

Healthy Smoothie Recipes For Kids

These smoothies are easy to make and won’t take up too much of your time. You can serve them during breakfast or as evening snacks. With the right ingredients, you can make a wide range of fruit smoothies that you kids will love,

Protein Smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 1 banana
  • 1 tsp ricotta cheese
  • 1 tsp peanut butter
  • 1 tsp cocoa powder
  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • 1 cup ice

Preparation:

Break banana into pieces and place in the blender. Add peanut butter, ricotta cheese, cocoa powder and coconut milk and blend for a few seconds. At the end add the ice and blend for 1/2 minute or until all the ice and everything if fully blended into a smoothie consistency.

Raspberry Smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups coconut milk
  • 1 banana
  • 1 1/2 cups frozen raspberries
  • 3/4 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1 tsp honey
  • fresh raspberries and some raw, unsalted walnuts (optional)

Preparation:

Place the apple juice, banana, raspberries, yogurt and honey into a blender. Blend until smooth. Check out here to see which vitamix is the quietest.

Blueberry Smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup blueberries (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • ½ cup almond milk
  • 2 tsp honey
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Preparation:

Blend the blueberries with yogurt and milk for a minute to form a smooth mixture. Add honey and blend until the desired consistency is achieved. Serve fresh.

Green Pear Smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup ice
  • 1 cup fresh spinach
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 whole pear (seeds, and stem removed)
  • 2/3 cup almond milk

Preparation:

Blend all ingredients for 1 minute. Pour into a glass. Serve fresh.

ACAI Red Smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup acai juice
  • 1/2 cup of unsweetened berry yogurt (non fat or vegan)
  • 1/2 cup red cabbage
  • 1 banana
  • 4 strawberries
  • 1 cup ice

Preparation:

Place all ingredients into a blender. Blend until smooth.
