5 Interesting Facts About Amiable Beagle. The beagle is such an old breed that it’s ancestors hunted in England around the mid 19 century, which explains why they love to sniff around and bay when they catch a good scent. Beagles are also very good pets because of their gentle dispositions, intelligence, and general lack of health problems.

These lovable hounds are energetic, playful companions who require plenty of playtime. If you have kids or other dogs, definitely consider a Beagle they make great family pets. Find out more about why they make perfect pets.

1. They have different barks for different occasions

Beagles are so talented at vocalizing, they do so in three different ways. According to the Dog Trainer in Stuart, FL, there’s the standard bark for everyday things like the doorbell or getting a new treat. Then there’s baying, which sounds a lot like doggy yodeling. This throaty yowl is used on the hunt to alert fellow dogs that they’ve picked up an interesting scent. Finally, there’s the forlorn howl. Beagles will howl if they are sad, bored or if others dogs are howling first.

2. Beagles are loving caregivers

If another animal comes into the home unexpectedly, a beagle will know immediately and will not rest until it has tracked it down and located it. A beagle has a sense when something is amiss. As an example, if you have been injured and are wearing a cast, the dog will try to protect your injured limb by sprawling over it.

3. They are super smellers

Their actions and behavior is literally controlled by smells. His every brain cell in it’s head is attached to its nose. With more than 220 million scent receptors, beagles can pick up more than 50 distinct odors. A wet nose helps attract and hold scent molecules for better evaluation. They can differentiate smells and remember them in the future.

4. There’s even a Beagle Brigade

The Beagle brigade is a trained task force of dogs that patrols airports all over the country. Using their powerful sniffers, the dogs can find meat and produce that might be carrying foreign bugs or diseases. To become one of these investigative pooches, beagles must undergo 12 weeks of training, more info here.

5. Beagles shouldn’t be left alone

Beagles can cause a lot of troubles when left unattended or unchanged, especially outside. They are wily escape artists who can make a getaway out of almost any fenced enclosure, either by digging under or finding that one small gap missed by everyone else. Therefore, it’s recommended to find a pet sitter or a pet boarding facility in case you need to leave your pet.

Beagles loves company, either human or another dog. They need social interaction more than other breeds. That’s why long separation and not giving them cbd oil for dogs can cause big anxiety and suffering. Recent studies have shown that CBD is particularly beneficial for dogs anxiety issues.
