Health Benefits of Hazelnut Butter
Like most nuts, hazelnuts are extremely healthy. Hazelnuts are high in fat and calories, but they contain fats that belong to the group of good fats that do not cause blockage of blood vessels.
Hazelnuts are unique in that they contain a significant amount of folic acid. This vitamin is usually found in green leafy vegetables, but it is very easily destroyed by heat treatment. Thus, in just two minutes of cooking, almost 90 percent of the folate in vegetables is destroyed. Folic acid is necessary for pregnant women.

Consuming hazelnuts is best between meals and you should not eat more than the amount that fits in the palm of your hand. To remind, the energy value of 100g of fresh hazelnuts is 628 kcal. Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups raw hazelnuts
- pinch of sea salt
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 302 F and line a pan with parchment paper.
- Place the hazelnuts on a baking pan and roast them for 13 to 15 minutes (I always roast mine for 13 minutes). Follow the last few minutes carefully so that the hazelnuts do not burn.
- Remove the hazelnuts from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes. To remove the skin, add the hazelnuts to a kitchen towel. Rub vigorously until the skin is mostly stripped. Or rub the hazelnuts with your hands while they are still warm, and the skin will fall off.
- Place the nuts to the bowl of your food processor. Add the sea salt and process on high speed, stopping to scrap down the sides once or twice, until the nuts turn into a creamy butter, about 5 minutes total. The longer you blend the runnier the nut butter consistency will be.
- Transfer the butter to a mason jar or container. To keep fresh, store in the fridge for up to 1 month.
